Trooper First Class Matthew Schoenadel performed life-saving measures on an infant Tuesday morning along Interstate 68 in Cumberland. Trooper First Class Schoenadel received a panic call around 7:40 a.m. from a woman who said her grandson was not breathing. The Trooper found and stopped the vehicle, and told the occupants he was there to help. The infant was not breathing and appeared pale. His eyes were rolled back in his head, Maryland State Police said. Schoenadel turned the baby boy on his stomach to clear the baby’s airway. The infant began to breathe and soon regained color in his face and was transported to Western Maryland Health System by ambulance. Schoenadel is a nine year veteran of the Maryland State Police.
